Mobile Plant Fitter | Heavy Plant Mechanic | Plant Maintenance Fitter

Scunthorpe Steelworks | From £18 per hour + overtime premiums | Monday-Friday, 60 hours per week | Full-time, permanent | Site-based and field-based | Company van provided

Introduction

Acorn by Synergie is recruiting a Mobile Plant Fitter for a respected subcontractor based at Scunthorpe Steelworks.

This permanent opportunity is ideal for an experienced Mobile Plant Fitter or Heavy Plant Mechanic with a background in mobile screening equipment, heavy plant or industrial machinery. You'll carry out maintenance, servicing and repairs across a range of plant equipment in a high-profile industrial environment.

What We Offer

  • Basic rate of £18 per hour for the first 40 hours.

  • Overtime and Saturday rate of £27 per hour.

  • Sunday and bank holiday rate of £36 per hour.

  • Company van provided.

Key Duties

  • Carry out general maintenance and servicing of mobile plant equipment.

  • Fit meshes and bearings, and replace belts.

  • Repair screening and crushing equipment and heavy plant.

  • Diagnose faults and resolve mechanical issues efficiently.

  • Maintain high standards of safety and site compliance.

  • Complete additional maintenance and repair duties as required.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Mobile Plant Fitter or Heavy Plant Mechanic.

  • A mechanical qualification, such as City & Guilds, NVQ, HNC or equivalent.

  • Strong knowledge of construction plant equipment, including excavators and dump trucks.

  • Experience in quarrying, recycling or industrial environments.

  • Full UK driving licence and own transport.

  • CCNSG Site Safety Passport, or willingness to obtain one.

  • Strong problem-solving and diagnostic skills.

  • Ability to work independently and travel to different locations as required.
