Buckfastleigh, Devon | £27,000-£35,000 | Full-time | UK-wide travel & stays away | Environmental & Civil Engineering Projects


Introduction

Acorn by Synergie is recruiting for a practical Engineer / Installer to join a growing specialist engineering business delivering unique environmental and civil engineering projects across the UK.

This varied role combines workshop-based preparation in Buckfastleigh with hands-on installation work on sites nationwide. Working as part of a small team, you will install specialist mechanical and fabricated components, with full training and development available.

Key Duties / Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare, assemble and load equipment in the workshop.
  • Carry out mechanical installation work on sites across the UK.
  • Use hand and power tools, undertake drilling, anchoring, basic pipework and small concrete/formwork tasks.
  • Support site mobilisation and demobilisation.
  • Maintain tools, equipment and stock.
  • Work safely to site procedures and quality standards.
  • Regular overnight stays and working away from home are an essential part of the role.

Requirements

Essential Requirements

  • Relevant engineering, construction or technical qualification.
  • Good practical and hand-tool skills.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Ability to commute to Buckfastleigh when not working on site.
  • Flexibility to travel and stay away during the working week.
  • Positive attitude, strong safety awareness and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Requirements

  • Practical experience in mechanical installation, engineering, construction, maintenance, fabrication or a similar environment.

Advantageous

  • CSCS/site tickets.
  • Fabrication experience.
  • Concrete experience.
  • Experience working around water.

Training can be provided for advantageous skills and experience.
