Introduction

Acorn by Synergie is recruiting on behalf of our client, a well-established Managed Service Provider supporting a diverse portfolio of small and medium-sized businesses across the UK.

Delivering a blend of technical support, IT consultancy, infrastructure projects, cloud solutions and cyber security services, they have built a strong reputation for providing high-quality, customer-focused technology solutions.

Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint a Lead Infrastructure & Cloud Engineer to strengthen their senior technical team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer who enjoys taking ownership of complex technical projects while also playing a key leadership role within the business.

As a senior member of the team, you will become a trusted technical expert and a key point of contact for colleagues and management. Alongside leading infrastructure, cloud, networking and security projects, you will support, mentor and develop other IT support staff, helping to drive technical excellence across the business.

Key Duties

  • Lead the design, implementation and delivery of complex infrastructure, cloud, networking and security projects.
  • Act as the senior technical authority within the engineering team.
  • Provide technical guidance, mentoring and escalation support to colleagues.
  • Design, implement and support server infrastructure and virtualisation platforms.
  • Deliver backup and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Design and support networking environments, including firewalls, routing, switching, VLANs and VPNs.
  • Deliver cloud-based projects, including Microsoft 365 migrations and identity management solutions.
  • Support device deployments and wider digital transformation initiatives.
  • Carry out technical reviews and identify opportunities for infrastructure and security improvements.
  • Implement security enhancements and support incident response activities when required.
  • Contribute to technical strategy, service development and best practice standards.
  • Work closely with a varied client base to deliver high-quality IT solutions.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience within a Managed Service Provider or multi-client IT environment.
  • Proven experience delivering complex technical projects from design through to completion.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows Server technologies, Active Directory, Group Policy and infrastructure management.
  • Hands-on experience with virtualisation platforms.
  • Strong networking skills, including firewalls, routing, switching, VLANs and VPN technologies.
  • Experience implementing backup and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Strong Microsoft 365 administration experience.
  • Good understanding of cyber security principles, threats and mitigation techniques.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience mentoring or supporting junior engineers would be advantageous.

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary of £45,000 - £55,000.
  • Hybrid working arrangement.
  • Opportunity to join a growing and respected Managed Service Provider.
  • Exposure to a broad range of infrastructure, cloud and cyber security technologies.
  • Leadership responsibilities with opportunities to mentor and develop others.
  • Opportunity to influence technical strategy and service development.
  • Varied and hands-on technical environment with ongoing career development opportunities.
