Acorn by Synergie is recruiting on behalf of a highly respected and long-established engineering and fabrication company based in Cardiff. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Machinist / Toolmaker to join a growing business with a strong reputation across a wide range of sectors, including Renewable Energy, Construction, Manufacturing, Flood Defence, Automotive, and more.

Key Duties

• Operate and set up manual centre lathes to produce high-quality components.
• Carry out precision machining, turning, milling, and fitting of components.
• Interpret technical drawings and follow specifications accurately.
• Measure and inspect finished products to ensure quality standards are met.
• Maintain machinery and equipment to ensure optimal performance.
• Work within a skilled machine shop environment across various industries.

Requirements

• Time-served Turner / Toolmaker with proven manual machining experience.
• Proficiency in operating and setting up manual centre lathes (e.g. Colchester Mascot 1600, Binns and Berry Trident L850).
• Strong knowledge of machining processes and tools.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
• Experience with precision measurement techniques and inspection tools.
• Understanding of equipment maintenance and care.
• Strong attention to detail, organisational skills, and problem-solving ability.
• Commitment to workplace safety and procedures.
• Previous experience in a manufacturing or machining environment.
• Relevant technical training or certifications advantageous.
• Proactive and solution-focused attitude.
• Strong team player with a can-do mindset.

What We Offer

• Permanent full-time position.
• £16.94 per hour.
• Overtime paid at time and a half after standard hours.
• Double time on Sundays and bank holidays.
• 32 days annual leave including bank holidays.
